<image:title>Aberporth - Dolwen Beach</image:title>
<image:caption>DOLWEN BEACH This award winning, sandy beach is just 400m away from Coastal Cottage & Coastal Apartment. It is ideal for families as it’s sheltered and great for paddling and body boarding. From May to September it is manned by RNLI lifeguards and you can hire sea kayaks from the cafe overlooking the beach, or hire paddleboards and other equipment from Fosup. You can often spot dolphins in the bay from here.</image:caption>

<image:caption>DYFFRYN BEACH Dyffryn is Aberporth’s bigger beach where Sean, the local fisherman, still goes out for his daily catch. You can sit on the sandy beach or the headland and watch the world go by. At low tide the rocks are ideal for rock pooling. In the Summer months, at the back of the beach, be sure to enjoy a drink or food at The Boy Ashore bbq shack. There's also the Cwtch for lunches & it’s ice cream parlour, usually open from Easter to October half-term. All year round you can enjoy The Ship Inn pub overlooking Dyffryn Beach.</image:caption>

<image:title>Aberporth - Walks</image:title>
<image:caption>WALKS The Poetry Trail A lovely walk through country lanes, woodland and fields. There’s a shorter 1.3km walk or a longer 5.7km walk. Aberporth to Tresaith The coastal path walk from Aberporth to Tresaith is tarmacced for the first part, so is nice and easy with beautiful views. It then gets a bit uneven underfoot as you head down into Tresaith, but it’s still one of the easier walks along the Ceredigion Coastal Path. And there’s a great pub at the end! If you’re feeling energetic, you can keep walking to Penbryn, Llangrannog and beyond. Aberporth to Mwnt In the other direction, the Coastal Path runs near the Cottage & Apartment as it comes inland towards Mwnt. This is a more challenging stretch, but is well worth it for the views, especially as you come into Mwnt. The Cardi Bach bus service runs the stretch of the Ceredigion Coastal Path, so you can walk in one direction & bus it back. Here’s a Ceredigion Coastal Path guide We also have other walks we have done featured on our Instagram & Facebook pages.</image:caption>

<image:title>Aberporth - Nature</image:title>
<image:caption>NATURE Ceredigion's coast has not one, but two Special Areas of Conservation. Cardigan Bay has one of the largest populations of bottle nose dolphins in Europe and the biggest in the UK. You can often spot then from the beach or coastal path. If you head to New Quay or Gwbert you can get a boat trip to get a bit closer to them. You can sometimes glimpse porpoise & seals too. Bird watchers can spot a host of marine birds throughout the year. Both beaches at Aberporth are ideal for rock pooling at low tide. This guide will give you a great insight into Ceredgion’s wildlife</image:caption>

<image:caption>ABERPORTH We’re very lucky to have two beautiful beaches in the village and both are within walking distance of Aberporth Coastal Cottage and Apartment. Dolwen is the smaller of Aberporth's two beaches and is around 400 metres from the cottage & apartment. Dyffryn is Aberporth’s bigger beach where Sean, the local fisherman, still goes out for his daily catch. From Aberporth you can walk the Ceredigion Coast Path towards Mwnt or Tresaith and beyond. Maybe start at The Ship Aberporth and then end at The Ship Inn Tresaith! You can see more information here for each beach. Walking distance.</image:caption>

<image:caption>TRESAITH If you only do one coastal path walk on your holiday in Aberporth then head to our neighbouring village of Tresaith. The first part of the walk is nice and easy with stunning coastal views and picnic spots. It then gets a little bit uneven underfoot as it heads down into Tresaith but it is still one of the easiest and shortest sections of coastal path. Tresaith itself is a very small seaside village with a sandy blue flag beach and a beautiful waterfall. It also has a great pub, The Ship Inn, with sea views, good food and a perfect spot for watching the sunset. In the Summer months it has a little cafe, kayak hire and lifeguards manning the beach. From Tresaith you can walk the Ceredigion Coast Path towards Aberporth or Penbryn and beyond. 2 miles.</image:caption>

<image:title>Beaches & Villages</image:title>
<image:caption>PENBRYN This National Trust beach is a little gem and is very quiet almost all year round due to it’s secluded location. From the car park you can either walk along the country lane to the beach, or you can take the woodland path which is our favourite! At low tide there’s a small cave to explore and the beach is filled with pebbles and shells to collect. Whilst you’re there you must visit the Plwmp Tart cafe for home cooked lunches and yummy, freshly baked cakes!! From Penbryn you can walk the Ceredigion Coast Path towards Tresaith or Llangrannog and beyond. 3.5 miles</image:caption>

<image:title>Beaches & Villages</image:title>
<image:caption>LLANGRANNOG Llangrannog is a small & picturesque coastal village, but with plenty of character. The sandy blue flag beach is manned by RNLI lifeguards in the Summer and there are plenty of places to eat & drink, including the Beach Hut cafe, the Pentre Arms and yet another Ship Inn pub! Just outside of Llangrannog you’ll find the Urdd Gobaith Cymru activity centre with a dry ski slope, tobogganing, horse riding, quad bikes and lots more to keep you busy. From Llangrannog you can walk the Ceredigion Coast Path towards Penbryn or Cwmtydu and beyond. If you want to do a short walk then you can walk to Cilborth Beach (only accessible via the main beach at low tide, or via the coast path). It’s a pretty little cove & a hidden gem. 6.4 miles</image:caption>

<image:title>Beaches & Villages</image:title>
<image:caption>CWMTYDU This pebbly little cove was once a smugglers hideaway! It’s caves and rocks are now a favourite spot for grey seals, especially during pup season (September to December). North of Cwmtydu, along the coast path you’ll find Castell Bach & the pretty National Trust cove of Cwmsilio. From Cwmtydu you can walk the Ceredigion Coast Path towards Llangrannog or New Quay and beyond. 12.5 miles</image:caption>

<image:title>Beaches & Villages</image:title>
<image:caption>MWNT Mwnt is a National Trust beach with a beautiful white church overlooking the sandy beach cove. It’s one of our favourite spots to watch the sunset. The walk to the top of Mwnt hill is worth it for the breathtaking & uninterrupted views of the Cardigan Bay coastline. It’s also a popular place to spot dolphins, so keep an eye out to sea! During the Summer months Mwnt Kiosk sells drinks, snacks & ice creams (just don’t forget anything as there are quite a few steps to the beach). From Mwnt you can walk the Ceredigion Coast Path towards Aberporth or Gwbert and beyond. 5 miles</image:caption>

<image:caption>CEIBWR Ceibwr is actually in North Pembrokeshire in the Pembrokeshire National Park. It’s another National Trust beach, so as you can imagine is beautiful. It’s a small inlet in a wild and secluded location with breathtaking views from the coastal path above. You can take a walk along the path to the Witches Cauldron and watch out for seals and porpoises. We combine a trip here with a visit to Penrallt Garden Centre where they have a fantastic cafe, garden centre & play park for children. There is also a lovely woodland walk from here which takes you right onto Ceibwr beach. It only takes around 15 minutes, so great for little ones or if you don’t fancy a long coastal path hike. From Ceibwr you can walk the Pembrokeshire Coast Path towards Poppit Sands or Newport (Pembrokeshire) and beyond. 15 miles</image:caption>

<image:caption>Cardigan / Aberteifi Cardigan is just a 10 minute drive away from our Aberporth holiday cottage & apartment. It's the nearest town to Aberporth and is called Aberteifi in Welsh (mouth of the river Teifi) In Cardigan you’ll find supermarkets and a high street full of independent shops, cafes & places to eat. The recently renovated Cardigan Castle is well worth a visit, or maybe a boat trip along the River Teifi from the Quayside (seasonal). Finish your day with a fresh wood-fired pizza at the Pizza Tipi on Cardigan’s Quayside & a pint of their own brew beer or locally distilled gin (seasonal opening) There’s also a cinema at the Theatre Mwldan to catch the latest film. 7 miles</image:caption>

<image:caption>New Quay / Cei Newydd New Quay is a favourite of ours to visit and is very similar to a Cornish village with its harbour & fishing boats. It has two sandy beaches, gift shops, pubs & plenty of places to eat. It’s also one of the best places to do a dolphin spotting boat trip with Sea Mor. We enjoy sitting on the harbour wall with some chips from the Lime Crab & an ice cream watching the world go by. 16 miles</image:caption>

<image:caption>Aberaeron Aberaeron is a small harbour town famous for it’s colourful Georgian houses. It has plenty of independent shops, cafes & places to eat. Grab yourself a bucket & line and go crabbing off the harbour wall, or treat yourself to lunch at the Harbourmaster. We often combine a spin to Aberaeron with a visit to the National Trust estate of Llanerchaeron. 17.5 miles</image:caption>

For fanatstic views across Cardigan Bay take the Aberystwyth cliff railway up Constitution Hill. From Aberystwyth you can ride the Vale of Rheidol steam train to Devil’s Bridge and take in the beautiful scenery of the ancient valleys, woodlands & waterfalls. 34 miles</image:caption>

<image:caption>WALES COAST PATH Wales is the only country in the world to have path that stretches the whole coastline. We are very lucky to have the Ceredigion part of the Wales Coast Path on our doorstep. This heritage coastline not only offers breathtaking walks, but also the opportunity to go bird watching and also enjoy wildlife such as dolphins, seals & porpoises. You’ll also find a pub and cafe or two in some villages along the way! Here is a link to our local beaches & villages guide. You can walk the coastal path from all of these. For full information on all walks then the Wales Coast Path website has a host of knowledge, maps etc.</image:caption>

<image:caption>COUNTRY WALKS Here are some of our other favourite walks that we enjoy as a family. The Teifi Marshes, Welsh Wildlife Reserve. A really easy, flat walk with bird hides along the way. From the Wildlife Centre you can also enjoy woodland walks, a children’s play park and the Glasshouse cafe. 10 miles Llanerchaeron National Trust has 3 great family walks. The first is around the estate itself with a lake, secret garden & farmyard. Then there’s the Fairy Trail. From the car park of Llanerchaeron there is a lovely woodland walk just across the wooden bridge from the cafe ~ make sure you keep an eye out for the fairies! Just beyond Llanerchaeron is a safe & flat cycle/walking path along an old, dis-used railway track and this takes you all the way into Aberaeron. 19 miles Ffynone Woods. This is a beautiful Woodland Trust walk in North Pembrokeshire that takes you to Fynnone waterfall. 11 miles</image:caption>
